Europe is a pretty big place, and it’s full of the most incredible buildings and history. To see it all would take several trips and a lot of years. But you could try a tour to take in some of the best of what Europe has to offer. There are ancient castles and cathedrals. You’ll see impossible structures and natural phenomena and here we showcase just a handful of what’s on offer.

Italy

You could start your tour in Italy, home of the great Renaissance. Rome is an incredible city to stay in, we loved our weekend in Rome. Start with the ancient Roman buildings of The Forum and The Colosseum.

Don’t forget to check out The Vatican and Michelangelo’s works in the Sistine Chapel

Here’s a sneeky photo I took with my iPhone…no photography is allowed
No stay in Rome would be complete without sampling some Italian wines like Chianti, and eating some authentic Italian food.

Germany

Take the train or a plane to Germany to sample their culinary expertise in sausages. Wash it all down with some beer, and enjoy some festive Oom-pah music. Of course, Germany has a great deal more to offer than that. Berlin is a magnificent city full of history. What’s left of the wall is certainly worth a visit to help better your understanding of twentieth-century European history. Head out into the countryside for some action adventure with a range of activities like hiking and cycling.

France

Crossing the border to the west brings you into France, one of the biggest countries in Europe. It is also one of the most beautiful architecturally too. Stunning castles and country mansions can be found in all regions. The opulence of the French culture through the ages is still evident, even if it did fall out of favour with a bang! You can enjoy sunshine and beaches on the Mediterranean to the south, or head north for the romance of Paris.

UK

Cross the Channel and you will arrive in Britain. The train, the ferry or a plane will get you here very quickly from Paris or Calais. Admire the beauty of the White Cliffs of Dover from the boat. London is one of the most incredible cities in the world and caters to the tourist very well. Royal buildings like Buckingham Palace are a favourite. But head out of town to the west and you will find one of the world’s greatest mysteries. Stonehenge remains a World Heritage Site to this day. There’s also some seriously cool castles in the UK to visit.

Norway & Finland

You’ll be noticing the weather is cooler already, but be brave and head North again into Scandinavia and see the Northern Lights. The countries here are smaller, but each has its own charm. For snow adventure, this is the part of Europe to head to. The wildlife is spectacular across Norway and Finland. And of course, Lapland is home to the infamous Father Christmas!  Check online for the best time to see the Northern Lights while you are there, and enjoy a midnight snow trek.

Europe is a place you could come back to time and time again, and never find every delight hidden within it’s countries. If you love languages, then you can’t go wrong here as each country has its own dialect or language to enjoy. Make Europe your travel destination for 2016.
