Naples, a city in southern Italy, sits on the Bay of Naples. Nearby is Mount Vesuvius, the still-active volcano that destroyed nearby Roman town Pompeii. Dating to the 2nd millennium B.C., Naples has centuries of important art and architecture. The city’s cathedral, the Duomo di San Gennaro, is filled with frescoes. Other major landmarks include the lavish Royal Palace and Castel Nuovo, a 13th-century castle. Naples is Italys third city after Rome and Milan has traditionally been the mere launchpad to the nearby Amalfi Coast, or the archaeological wonderland of Pompeii. For instance, you would be losing an incredible chance if you did not take a trip down to Cinque Terre. It is a wonderful little town perched on the edge of the coast with dazzling views of a diamond ocean. If you want to experience it in all its splendour, rent a boat in the harbour and take a trip along the coastline. There you will find private beaches, where you can drop anchor and go for a swim in one of the world’s most beautiful stretches of water. Explore Italy or all its wonder and then head back to your luxury rented villa to relax by the pool, under the shade.
