Trying to choose between America and Canada is very difficult. Both countries have an array of attractions that you must see in your lifetime. So, instead of visiting one, why not visit both? Here are ten reasons why…

10. Road Trip

Road trips are not monopolised by North America but there aren’t many places in the world that are better destinations for a road trip than North America. The idea of the road trip is immortalised by Route 66, taking in states from California to Illinois and New York. The US road trip is on almost every bucket list in existence for good reason.

9. Whistler

For all the extreme sports fans reading this post, Whistler is the largest and most notorious Alpine skiing resort in all of North America. There is a range of runs with varying degrees of difficulty and spectacular views. Even if you are not a fan of skiing, there are walking and hiking trails and breath-taking scenery. Whistler has something for everyone.

8. Yellowstone National Park

Talking of walking and hiking trails, you definitely don’t want to miss Yellowstone National Park. Plus, there is an active Geyser that blows its top with remarkable regularity!

7. The Calgary Stampede

No, it is not a health hazard – it is just a festival that Calgarians take part in every year. It lasts for ten days, and everyone dresses up in cowboy attire to take part in rodeo and dance competitions. As far as festivals go, it is one of the weirdest but most enjoyable you will witness!

6. San Francisco

The city of San Francisco is the jewel in the crown of the state of California. Most people will instantly think of Los Angeles and the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. But, San Fran has a loveable charm that you won’t find anywhere else. The hilly terrain coupled with the famous tram system is just one reason to visit, as is the notorious figure of Alcatraz that lurks in the bay.

5. Las Vegas

Although you might have been to a casino, you have never fully experienced what gambling is like until you have visited Vegas. All the out in the desert, the city of sin is a mass of partying and gambling. But, if you want something more sophisticated, there are cabaret shows and great restaurants.

4. Vancouver

Vancouver is a mix of ocean valleys and mountain peaks. The views, for a major city, are unparalleled. And, like all good cities, there is plenty to do and great food.

3.  Hollywood

Would a trip to North America be complete without a tour of Hollywood? Only with a trip to Tinseltown can you know what it is like to live like a celebrity.

2. New York City

The city that never sleeps has everything from Michelin star restaurants to huge sporting events and gigantic skyscrapers. New York is awash with opportunity and things to do. The sheer size of the place is enough to visit alone.

1. Niagara Falls

Probably the greatest of all the natural wonders, Niagara Falls puts the beauty of the Earth and the frailty of life into perspective.
