In our opinion, choosing the right hotel is all-important when organising romantic breaks. After all, where you stay will have a big impact on the overall ambience of your holiday.
With that in mind, we've compiled a brief list of some of the best romantic hotels in Tenerife for couples. You can find out more about these, as well as see more hotels, at http://www.sovereign.com/destinations/Spain/Tenerife
Hotel Jardines de Nivaria
The gorgeous Costa Adeje is one of the top places to find luxury hotels, so that's where the majority of accommodation on our list is based - including this first resort, Hotel Jardines de Nivaria. With its beachfront location and stylish decor, this hotel has a really sophisticated atmosphere. One of our favourite things about it is that it's tucked away in beautiful landscaped gardens which is ideal for romantic strolls. We also love the large glass dome that dominates the building - rather charmingly, it depicts Tenerife's night sky.
All the rooms here feature either a balcony or terrace, while there's also a gorgeous spa to unwind in. And if you're going on your honeymoon you'll be pleased to hear that, depending on when you travel, you could receive complimentary gifts like spa treatments, flowers and sparkling wine.
The Villas at Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque
Part of the Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque, the Villas are the perfect option if you're looking for the ultimate in luxury. Designed by Pascal Ortega, they're located in tropical gardens and have a private swimming pool.
So, they're fabulous for feeling as if you have your own little slice of paradise. Plus, you also get access to all the facilities of the main hotel, as well as a few special extras, such as an exclusive communal swimming pool. And, to experience utter indulgence, you can arrange for a butler to bring you breakfast in bed.
Vincci la Plantacion del Sur
Also located in Costa Adeje, our next top hotel for couples is built on an old banana plantation. Thanks to its elevated position, it offers some truly stunning views - some of the best in the whole of southern Tenerife, in fact - across both Costa Adeje and Playa del Duque. Like the Hotel Jardines de Nivaria, all the rooms here have either balconies or terraces, while there are some truly decadent facilities to take advantage of.
Among our personal favourites is the infinity pool, as well as SPA Nammo. If you snap up a honeymoon package here, you and your partner can (depending on when your trip is booked for) receive a free thalassotherapy circuit each in the spa.
The last option on our list is the Hotel Botanico, which is around 1.5 km outside the centre of Puerto de la Cruz. What I like best about this place is that it's utterly unique, set in tranquil botanical gardens and tucked away on a hillside. Plus, it aims to blend Western luxury with influences from the Far East, which makes for a great atmosphere.
It's a particularly good resort to choose if you like the sound of ultimate relaxation - and if you and your partner are keen foodies. The Oriental Spa Garden has a really wide range of relaxing treatments, while restaurants like Oriental and La Parrilla serve up stunning a la carte food.
